Frequently Asked Questions

  • Two weeks before every half term, you will be emailed an invoice from our team for all lessons scheduled for the next half term period. All payments must be made within 7 days. Any payments not made, may result in a delay to your child’s lessons or you may lose your place on our roster for that term.

If you cancel a lesson with more than 24 hours notice, you will receive a credit for your next half term payment.

  • Our Ensembles and Orchestra payments are made in advance of the term, at a fixed rate.

This is a termly commitment and we are unable to refund any sessions not attended by your child. If we need to cancel a session due to teacher illness, you will receive a credit for the missed session.

  • We are not able to accept childcare vouchers as payment.

  • Please let us know of any external or internal clashes with your child’s timetable at the beginning of the term. We work closely with your school to anticipate school activities and events, but with many students to account for, we may miss a clash.

Depending on teacher and room availability, we may be able to reschedule the lesson to another time during the term. If not, you will receive a credit for your next half term payment.

If your child is unable to attend their lesson due to illness, an external appointment or holiday, you must allow us at least 24 hours notice.

If you notify us less than 24 hours before your lesson, you will be charged as we will need to pay your teacher for their time.

  • We understand that music may not be for everyone, and that your child may choose to stop learning with us. We ask that you give us at least 4 weeks notice of termination of our services.

We will continue to teach your child during this notice period until your chosen termination date.

For any lessons remaining on your paid invoice after this 4 weeks period, you will be refunded.

Ensemble and Orchestra participation is termly, so we are unable to terminate their involvement until the end of the term.

  • Every term we are partnering with more schools across the UK, so please get in touch with us if you would like us to contact your school to let them know of our services.

For those living in London, our partners Workbox Music offer 1-1 lessons and group class at our student’s homes and teachers’ homes.

  • For lessons during school hours, we set these on a rotational basis, which means your child isn’t missing the same class two weeks in a row.

Depending on your school’s capacity, we may offer after school hours tuition. Find your School to see if we offer this option.

  • If your child doesn’t seem to have a preference of which instrument to start their learning, depending on your child’s age, we do have some recommendations on what would be best for their development.

    For Reception: singing, violin
For Year 1: piano, viola, flute, recorder
For Year 2: drums, clarinet, trumpet

Learning instruments such as cello, double bass, other woodwind and brass instruments will depend on your child’s size as these instruments increase incrementally in size.

  • We understand that buying an instrument outright can be incredibly expensive, particularly if your child is trying a new instrument. So, we offer instrument hire through our own stock, or external hires from our trusted retailers.

Please get in touch and we will help you find the right instrument to hire.

We do not offer piano or keyboard hires, but will advise on the appropriate instrument to buy in line with your budget.

  • All of our teachers have a degree from some of the best conservatoires and music education colleges in the UK and internationally.

All of our teachers hold a valid Enhanced DBS Certificate.

Our Designated Safeguarding Lead ensures that all of our teachers are properly vetted and safeguarding policies are in place and understood by all of our teachers.

If you have a concern, no matter how small, please get in touch with Shakira.
